In the 2007-08 School year, the 5/6 grade Lady Firebirds won the Area 7 Championship Title, Region 3 Championship Title, and placed third in the City. In the 2008-09 School year the student athletes lost in the second round of the Area 7 playoffs to Ryerson School by three points. This was a great lesson learned by all team members for various reasons. Many of the girl’s will go on to play on the 7/8 grade basketball team at Dodge Academy, the high school, and college of their choice. They will be able to continue to develop all basketball skills previously taught. Coach T. Burkes is very proud of their accomplishments. Tryouts for the team begin in November for all interested students.
